The Research Foundation, through the New York State Department of Labor (DOL), provides unemployment insurance compensation for up to 26 weeks. The RF pays the full cost of this benefit and you are automatically enrolled once you are an RF employee.
You are eligible if you are involuntarily terminated from employment at the RF. There is a seven-day waiting period after you file your claim. The first week of unemployment is an unpaid waiting week.
From time to time, New York State may authorize additional benefit extensions. The weekly benefit amount paid to you is based on your wages and a DOL formula.
Benefits end when you are no longer unemployed or after 26 weeks have elapsed since the day you began receiving benefit payments, whichever occurs first.
File a Claim You can file your claim for unemployment insurance benefits online using the DOL Web site or by calling the Telephone Claims Center at 1-888-209-8124 for New York State residents (or 1-877-358-5306 for out of state residents).
Your campus Human Resources Office will provide you with a record of employment slip that includes your exact date of termination.
