Fair Labor Standards Act


Applies to all employers, flowdown to subrecipients is required.


In brief, the purpose is to establish minimum hourly wage, overtime pay, and to regulate child labor.



Requires employers to pay the prevailing minimum wage to all employees with certain exceptions for employees with less than 20 employees, students, apprentices, and workers with disabilities.


There are specific limitations on child labor both in age and hours worked.



Imposes the recovery of back wages, monetary fines/penalties, civil or criminal action.

Ensure appropriate employment and compensation for employees, and abide by the requirements.
